Churches
When carrying out work of this nature it is essential that all specifications provided by Listed Building / English Heritage are adhered to in order to preserve all existing features. All the original materials must be re-used where possible. Where you are not able to relay existing materials every effort must be made for replacement to be as sympathetic as possible.
Detached Bungalow
This bungalow was once single storey until the new owners decided to create this beautiful example of a bungalow conversation into a Tudor style house. After all the timber work was fitted we completed the look by covering the roof with concrete Grovebury interlocking tiles.
Stately Homes and Manor Houses
Over the years we have carried out a lot of work on this type of property, as re-furbishment of this kind requires both technical and practical know how. Ecton Hall was a derelict building until 1989 when a Hertfordshire building company took the task to renovate this property into 12 luxury homes. We carried out the work to this listed building, bringing the roof back to its original splendour, replacing all the original features and leadworks.
Decoration
The gargoyle on this porch roof adds a touch of humour to the finish but sculptured finials and decorative ridge tiles can add that extra special look to both large and small roofs.

New Build
The roof to the new property oppostie has been covered with New Spanish Samaca Slates which complement the red brick building. Obviously with new build properties the choice is endless when choosing which material will achieve the best look but in a lot of areas the Local Authority will advise you on what they would prefer you to use to be in keeping with the surroundings.
Schools
This traditional old school has been brought up to date by having insulation and breathable membrane laid under the existing Welsh Slate to create a warm roof system. All the existing leadwork was replaced to valleys, chimney stacks and abutment walls. The centre copular illustrated in the picture shown was completely re-dressed with Code 6 Sheet Lead.
Terraced House
This is a typical example of a mid terraced roof which can be recovered with existing of new naturel slate, man made synthetic slates or new concrete interlocking tiles.
Whilst there is no problem with changing the material from slate to concrete tile the roof timbers will need to be strengthened to accomodate the extra weight and Local Authoritiy Building Regulations will have to be obtained.
Wishing Well
Wishing wells, small porches and canopies can be decoratively tiled or slated to suit individual requirements. This picture illustrates how effective decorative tiling can achieve a traditional look on a small area.
